Wiltshire Horn sheep are an ancient breed originating in the United Kingdom. They are very hardy, surviving where other breeds struggle, from arid through to tropical environments. Each summer they shed their fleece making them a very low maintenance breed requiring no shearing, crutching or mulesing.
Wiltshire Horn lambs are well muscled, with low fat exhibiting excellent conversion ratios and high carcass weights.
Wiltshire Horn Rams make perfect sires for first cross lambs, being popular with Merino and British Sheep breed owners for producing prime lambs for the meat market.
Wiltshire Horn ewes are excellent mothers, normally birthing twins with occasional triplets and even quadruplets. Consequently with good care you can expect lambing ratios approaching 200% from a well maintained flock.
